A Perfect Selection 2 is Here!

The garden here in Cambridge is in full blossom, but the weather is more like July, than May. So it looks like spring, but feels like summer. Crazy English weather – not that we’re complaining!

It’s been an exciting time, seeing my NJ Devils exceeding all expectations and making the post-season this year. Sadly, we lost to the Lightning in the first round. But this is the start of something great, I’m sure! Congratulations to all those fans whose teams are still in the running for Lord Stanley’s Cup! And commiserations to those of you whose teams missed out or have been knocked out.

Thank you to everyone who let me know how much they’ve been enjoying the NJ Ice Cats short stories that I’ve been giving away in the For Readers’ section. I’m so glad you like keeping up with my men of the ice.

For those of you who have missed one ore more, as promised, I have gathered together 5 of the short stories into A Perfect Selection 2.

It is available for 99c at most digital retailers (links at the end of the post). Bite-sized, holiday-themed romances featuring NJ Ice Cats’ players — perfect for those times when you want a satisfying short read! The holidays included are July 4th, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day and Easter.

Happy Easter!

Having survived the Beast from the East — which was more like a grumpy puppy than a growling behemoth — we’re looking forward to spring, here in Cambridge. Although it’s pouring with rain, we have had some beautiful, spring-like days since we moved the clocks forward. And it’s already light until 7:30pm. It looks like our daffodils, snowdrops and other spring flowers survived the sub-zero temperatures and snow, so in a few weeks, we should have a glorious garden.

Thank you to all those of you who told me how much you enjoyed A Perfect Date – my free Valentine’s Day-themed, NJ Ice Cats’ short story. I really appreciate knowing that you’re reading and loving these bite-sized treats.

When I asked you which holidays you’d like to see represented, a popular request was Easter. Thanks to the brainstorming talents of my lovely author friend, Donna MacMeans, we came up with what I hope will be a fun read for you – A Perfect Chance.

Making an Egg-stra Effort!

Ice Cats’ defenceman, Hank ‘Vexer’ Delecchio, knows he needs a game-changer to get lovely nurse, Elise Arnett, to look past her dislike of professional athletes and take a chance on him. Will dressing up as the Easter Bunny, to entertain the kids on the children’s ward, be the play that finally helps him score?

To download A Perfect Chance, simply go to the For Readers section and click on the cover in the post ‘Free Easter Short Story!’

Remember, this will only be available for a limited time, so download it before it disappears!

In other news, plans are being finalised for A Perfect Selection 2, a second anthology of NJ Ice Cats’ short stories, which will be released during April. It will include 5 holiday-themed short stories, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, July 4th and Valentine’s Day. I hope to be able to reveal the fabulous cover to you soon. So, watch this space!

In the meantime, Happy Easter and Happy reading!

Two Free Valentine’s Short Stories!

*This promotion has now ended*

Happy Valentine’s Day to all my readers! I hope wherever you are that you have a day filled with love and happiness … and some great chocolate!

As a special Valentine’s treat, I have a brand new Valentine-themed Ice Cats’ short story, A Perfect Date, which you can download for FREE!

Can the wrong guy make things right?

Zoe Coombs’ perfect Valentine’s date has turned into a disaster. Stood up at the best restaurant in town, with her ex-fiancé and his latest fling two tables over. Perhaps she should have accepted Ethan Blackmore’s invitation instead, even if she won’t chance her heart on another hockey player. But when the sexy, Ice Cats’ defenseman comes to her rescue, she wonders if he’s worth the risk, after all.

As a bonus, I’m also making A Perfect Bouquet, another Valentine-themed Ice Cats’ short story, available again for you to download. Also FREE.

Anything, but red roses!

Ice Cats’ back-up goaltender, Chaz ‘Monty’ Montgomery, fell in love with florist Kayla DeMarco the first time he met her. Unfortunately, then she was married to one of his former team-mates. Since Kayla’s divorce, Monty has waited patiently, hoping that one day she’ll notice that he’s more than just a great customer. Can he convince her with a special bouquet that Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to take a chance on a different hockey player?

A Valentine’s Treat!

Not only is it February already, but it’s almost halfway through the month, with Valentine’s Day tomorrow! Here in Cambridge, the weather is still very cold, but the green shoots are popping out of the ground and the nights are already beginning to draw out.

Thankfully, for us and our cats, the various remodelling and redecorating projects at Chez Sugden are now complete. We love everything that’s been done by our wonderful tradesmen, but are glad to have finished with all the disruption.

For me, that’s meant I can write in peace! And I’ve been beavering away at several new projects — some Ice Cats and some not — which I look forward to sharing with you soon.

One thing I have been working on are some new holiday-themed Ice Cats’ short stories, in response to your lovely feedback about the ones I wrote for Halloween and Thanksgiving, and your kind requests for more. Yes, there will be another Ice Cats’ Short Story Anthology released soon, featuring the most recent stories, so don’t worry if you’ve missed the ones posted. Stay tuned for more on that soon.

In the meantime, as a special Valentine’s treat, I have put a new, FREE, Valentine-themed short story — A Perfect Date — up in the For Readers’ section. And, as a bonus, I have also put up A Perfect Bouquet. These 2 FREE short stories will only be available for a short time, so be sure to head over there and download them before they disappear!

Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Reading!

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like …

Not quite yet!! Not until December 1st, in our house anyway. But, we will be going to pick out our tree at the weekend and we plan to have the decorations up in good time.

Autumn is definitely with us. Even though Bonfire Night (Nov 5th) has been and gone, the air smells like November. The weather is turning colder and the leaves have pretty much all fallen. It’s another beautiful, crisp, sunny day here in Cambridge (after some pretty yucky grey days), but the heating is on and the cats are curled up under the radiators.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American readers. Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday. And for all my readers around the world, I’m very thankful for you!

If you’d like a quick treat, for those precious few moments amid the holiday hubbub, check out my newest Thanksgiving-themed NJ Ice Cats short story, over in the For Readers section, A Perfect Favor (or, if you prefer the English spelling, A Perfect Favour! – Yes, a true Two Nations Divided!), which you can download for free.

I’ve also put up my other two Thanksgiving-themed short stories – A Perfect Picnic and A Perfect Reunion – so that’s 3 FREE short stories to treat yourself to. But be quick – they’ll only be around for a couple of weeks.

3 FREE Thanksgiving Reads

This Promotion is Now Closed!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American readers! And happy November 23rd to all my readers, wherever you are. I’m very thankful for your support and for your love for my NJ Ice Cats!

As a thank you, I’m giving you my latest Thanksgiving-themed NJ Ice Cats’ short story – A Perfect Favor (or, if you prefer English spelling, A Perfect Favour!) for FREE for the next couple of weeks.

Meet the newest Ice Cat, Cooper ‘Coop’ Johansen!

Lights, Camera … Turkey!

Cooper ‘Coop’ Johansen doesn’t expect his fresh start with his new team to entail being Mr. November for the Ice Cats’ charity calendar. Food photographer Becca Emory’s Thanksgiving shoot could win her a contract that will stabilise her business. But her best friend’s in a jam and needs her to produce a calendar page for the Ice Cats asap. Combining the jobs should be a piece of cake. After all, how much trouble can a shirtless hockey player and three kittens be?

But that’s not all, you can also download my other Thanksgiving-themed short stories, A Perfect Picnic and A Perfect Reunion for FREE too!

No turkey, no pies and no power!

When a Thanksgiving snow storm knocks out the electricity, Ice Cats’ forward, Will Hardacre, and his sexy, but workaholic neighbour, Amelia Norris, are stranded on the 45th floor of their apartment building. A traditional festive feast is out; the best they can do is pool the sparse contents of their kitchen cupboards. Could a candlelit picnic help them discover that they have more in common than their address?

A day of thanksgiving?

When Ice Cats’ defenseman, Troy Davidson, sees his ex-fiancé at his parents’ Thanksgiving party, he’s determined to make things right. He screwed up five years ago, when he ditched their engagement party to elope with a movie star. Now divorced, he realises he’s only ever loved one woman. Charlotte Daniels claims she’s forgiven Troy. But can she trust him enough to take another chance on him and love?

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy reading!

Halloween Already?

I can’t believe autumn is here, the clocks are about to go back and Christmas is just around the corner! Still, it’s a lovely, crisp, sunny day and the view from my office is filled with autumn colour, as the leaves turn in the garden and across the fields.

And hockey is back! Go Devils! Go Ice Cats!

As a special Halloween treat and to celebrate the return of the boys of the ice — both real and fictional — I’m giving away FREE downloads of my  NJ Ice Cats‘ Halloween short stories.

Pop over to my For Readers section and you can download A Perfect Disguise, A Perfect Plan and the latest story, A Perfect Pumpkin.

3 Free Halloween Reads!

This promotion is now over!

Hockey season is back and so are the New Jersey Ice Cats!

By popular request, I am offering my lovely readers another FREE holiday-themed Ice Cats‘ short story. With Hallloween around the corner, I couldn’t resist something pumpkin-spiced!

Meet Ice Cats‘ forward, Logan Halliday!

No tricks — just a treat!

When sports’ journalist, Frankie Ellerton, agrees to help her sister at the pumpkin festival, the last person she expects to see is the sexy hockey player with whom she had a one-night-stand. Ice Cats’ forward, Logan Halliday, knows the Stanley Cup celebration he shared with Frankie was special, but she insists their relationship must now be strictly business. With his niece as chaperone, maybe he can carve more than the perfect jack o’lantern — a fresh start with Frankie.

But that’s not all.

As a special treat, you have a chance to download not one, not two, but three Halloween short stories!

Yes, for the next few weeks, I am also making both A Perfect Plan and A Perfect Disguise available for FREE.

Who says zombies aren’t romantic?

Ice Cats’ forward, Drake Spencer, hopes his plan to take his nephew trick-or-treating will finally break the ice with his lovely neighbour. Unfortunately, Gertie Noakes is having a bad Halloween; she burned the cookies she promised to bake for her daughter’s class. The last person she needs to find on her doorstep is the sexy, hockey player she’s been trying to steer clear of. Can a quick change of plan help Drake win Gertie over?

Who’s the lady behind the mask?

Ice Cats’ forward, Jamie ‘Blade’ Wilkinson thinks his neighbour, pretty schoolteacher, Daisy Carturo, is too good for him. She deserves better than a man with his dark past. When he meets sexy Catwoman at a team charity event, he thinks he’s found a more suitable woman to date. So why does she make him think about Daisy? If only he could have the best of both worlds.

To download, simply click on the cover of the short story you want to read.

Remember these are only free for the next couple of weeks and then they’ll be gone!

Happy Halloween and Happy reading!

Free July 4th NJ Ice Cats Short Story!

*Promotion Closed*

Now that the Stanley Cup has been awarded, hockey fans have a long wait through the summer until the puck drops again on the new NHL season. Roll on October!

In the meantime, it’s a good time to catch up on hockey romances.

Some lovely readers and fans of the NJ Ice Cats have asked to see a holiday-themed short story for July 4th. Always happy to please, I wrote one for you.

So, here it is … A Perfect Contest … and it’s FREE for you to download during July!

Secret crushes … unfinished business!

The last thing Ally Finnon wants is to strut her stuff in a swimsuit and patriotic head-dress for the annual Miss Firecracker contest. But she’ll lose her job if she doesn’t.

The last thing recently divorced, Ice Cats’ forward, Jordan ‘Match’ Matcheson, wants is to interrupt his summer break and judge a beauty contest. But he drew the short straw, literally.

Could this finally be the chance for the former high school friends to get together and make sparks fly?

Remember, this is only free during July, so download it before it’s gone!
